Why Nature Is Disappearing

The philosophy of today is one of conquest. We are taught from a young age that the earth should behave exactly like we want it to behave, that nature should bend to our will.

After an almost complete destruction of the environment and an almost complete depletion of all earthly recources, we are told that we need to conquer the planet even further, that we should have the power to decide which plants may or may not grow, we should be able to decide which temperature the earth should have.

The only thing this earth needs is us to leave it alone. These problems were created by industrialism and even more industrialism is surely not going to solve it.

Before we plastered asphalt on as much plants as we could, before we placed highways and parking areas on every acre of forest that was still left to be, humanity lived surrounded by forests.

The feeling one might still get when taking a hike, hearing the birds sing, the trees ruffle because of a breeze and the water splash because of playing ducklings, was a feeling all people had most of the time. This was the way of living for almost all of history.

Nature is trying to heal. The plants and herbs are still trying to help us out, the water is still full of life and the forests are still full of little critters. All we have to do is give them some space, leave them alone and let them heal themselves.
